Flirting was flirting—but business still had to be done.
Luo Beiyao glanced back at the rear compartment to ensure everyone was properly seated, then stepped on the accelerator and drove toward the hospital.
The air of the apocalypse itself carried substances harmful to humans. While not as lethal as the virus, prolonged exposure would shorten an ordinary person’s lifespan. Against ability users, however, it had no effect.
Su Mu pressed his lips together slightly and asked Zhou Haichen and the others sitting together in the back,
“What color was the advanced zombie’s blood?”
The question caught them off guard.
Anyone who had lived through the apocalypse for any length of time knew that zombie blood was blackish red. Still, Su Mu didn’t look like someone who would ask a meaningless question for no reason. Thinking back, the situation had been chaotic—no one had really paid attention to the color of that zombie’s blood.
Zhou Haichen scratched his buzz cut. The scar on his face shifted with the movement, his voice rough and blunt.
“Zombie blood… isn’t it black-red? That stuff’s filthy. If it splashes into your mouth or an open wound, you can get infected.”
Su Mu said nothing more. He lowered his gaze and leaned quietly to the side.
An advanced zombie. The ability to control low-level zombies. A degree of intelligence.
Every one of these points pointed to a single conclusion—
—a Zombie King.
But it had only been a little over half a month since the apocalypse began. How could a Zombie King have appeared so early? If such a creature were allowed to develop unchecked, it would become a fatal threat to human survivors.
And a Zombie King’s blood—
—was pure black.
That was the most straightforward way to identify one. Because in the later stages, as Zombie Kings continued to evolve and grow more intelligent, they would disguise themselves as humans and infiltrate survivor bases, bypassing defenses and carrying out large-scale massacres from within.

Everything in the apocalypse radiated an ominous, eerie presence.
Crows pecked at the rotting scraps of flesh left clinging to skeletal remains on the ground. As the truck passed by, a large flock took flight, wings flapping as they landed on power lines, their sharp beaks letting out harsh, rasping cries—like a death knell.
Some bolder crows slammed straight into the truck’s windows, only to be instantly killed by an ability user in the group. Zhou Haichen spat.
“Fuck. Bad luck.”
Without even turning his head, Luo Beiyao said,
“If you burn through your abilities now, how are you planning to deal with that advanced zombie later?”
Everyone’s expressions changed immediately.
Zhou Haichen nearly jumped out of his seat.
“Brother Luo—what did you just say?”
Luo Beiyao didn’t answer.
One hand remained steady on the steering wheel. With the other, he casually reached over and gave Su Mu’s cheek a quick squeeze. The moment his fingers touched that soft, warm skin, his movement stalled almost imperceptibly.
The next second—
A well-defined hand clamped down on his wrist.
Crack.
Luo Beiyao’s expression shifted slightly.
He withdrew his dislocated right hand. His crimson tongue slid out to lightly lick his lips as he lifted the now-limp wrist, glancing sidelong at the young man in the passenger seat, who looked like he jumped straight out of a painting.
Half-smiling, but not quite smiling, he said, “Mu Tou is really heartless these days. Am I not even allowed to touch you once?”
Su Mu replied coolly, “Want to lose your left hand too?”
Without changing expression, Luo Beiyao swiftly reset his wrist and smiled at him.
“Then do you want to drive?”
Su Mu was starting to get fed up. He raised a hand and rubbed his temples, then turned to look out the window.
Luo Beiyao extended the right hand that had just been dislocated and gently pressed a kiss to the skin at his wrist—right where Su Mu had touched him.
In the depths of his eyes, a surge of feverish obsession flared—violent, uncontrollable, growing at a devastating speed.
Luo Beiyao earns his Black-“Yandere”-Belt. Just so you know… I have not read it all, only about 100+ chapters before I decided that I want to see this to the end, so might as well translate it while reading it — but the guy is unhinged and he is a proper Yandere. I really wonder how he can make Su Mu fall for him ^^; To me, Su Mu doesn’t look straight – more like aromantic/asexual. One of my most liked aromantic/asexual MCs is Shen Jue from “A Hundred Ways To Kill A Heartthrob” (highly recommend the series, if you haven’t read it yet…. Su Mu and Shen Jue have something in common (personality wise), that’s why I wanted to translate EXES.
