[EXES] Chapter 30: Are You Sick or Something?

“So what’s the point of discussing all this with me?”

Su Mu frowned in irritation. He lifted the blanket and got out of bed, lightly touching the gauze on his shoulder and back. His fingers paused for a moment. “Thanks.”

Luo Beiyao watched him put on his shoes, his expression unreadable.
“Do you really think I can’t keep you if I wanted to?”

Su Mu raised an eyebrow in surprise. “What are you trying to do?”

Luo Beiyao met his dark gaze head-on, enunciating each word slowly.
“With my current strength, if I wanted to, you wouldn’t be able to escape me for the rest of your life.”

Su Mu’s indifferent expression froze inch by inch, like a lake locking over in winter. The muscles in his refined cheeks tightened.
“And what would that get you?” he asked coldly. “My body?”

Luo Beiyao stepped forward. With a light movement, he pulled Su Mu—whose body had already been immobilized by a spell—into his arms. Only then did he lower his head and gently kiss Su Mu’s soft hair, as if finally satisfied.

“I’ve been patient,” he said quietly. “I’ve respected you. That’s why I let you push my limits again and again.” His arms tightened slightly. “From now on, stay away from Lu Shuangshuang. Otherwise, I can’t promise I won’t do something excessive… just to prove you belong to me.”

As if recalling something deeply unpleasant, Su Mu’s expression changed sharply.
“You have—”

The words cut off halfway. Annoyance flashed through Su Mu’s eyes.

He had been in this body for so long that he had almost begun to mistake himself for the original Su Mu.

But this body was not truly his.

He couldn’t let his own existence interfere with the relationship between the original Su Mu and Luo Beiyao. He knew Su Wanmei genuinely approved of Luo Beiyao as well. He wouldn’t continue rejecting him so harshly—but as long as he remained in this body, Luo Beiyao was not allowed to touch him.

He wasn’t the original Su Mu. Why should he clean up someone else’s emotional mess?

Aside from Su Wanmei, he didn’t care to involve himself in anything else.

Luo Beiyao’s voice dropped, tight with restrained anger.
“I loved you. I treated you with everything I had. I thought about you in every situation—and all I got in return was a breakup.” His eyes darkened. “Now I stop being gentle, and you call me sick.” His voice sank. “Su Mu, do you really think I don’t have a temper?”

Su Mu had never been in love, never liked anyone. He honestly didn’t understand emotional matters—and didn’t want to get involved. He changed the subject instead.

“What kind of ability is this? You can immobilize people?”

He could clearly feel that it wasn’t a mental ability. As an ability user, his senses were sharp—his mental power wasn’t being interfered with at all.

Luo Beiyao didn’t answer. He casually withdrew the immobilization spell, then leaned in and lightly bit Su Mu’s earlobe. Before Su Mu could swing a fist, Luo Beiyao had already retreated.

“Remember—stay away from Lu Shuangshuang. Otherwise—”

The door opened abruptly. Su Mu walked out without looking back, the sound of the door slamming shut, cutting Luo Beiyao off mid-sentence.

He stood there, staring at the tightly shut door. Slowly, he raised a hand to cover his eyes, his tall frame drawn taut.

He said it like that—but how could he ever bring himself to do it?

Those kinds of things should only happen when both people love each other, when both are willing.

But that day, he had been too angry. Not only had his actions been rough—every word he’d spoken had been chosen to hurt Su Mu.

Every time he thought back to what he’d done in that moment of impulse, regret tore through him like a grinder, leaving him gasping for breath.

How could he have treated the person he loved so deeply… like that?
